The initiative on the introduction of the Children's Book Day in Ukraine and the development of the State target program to support children's books and reading in Ukraine.

Yesterday, on the birthday of Vsevolod Nestayko, the National Library of Ukraine held a round table for children "Children's book in Ukraine". The participants of the meeting, including representatives of the authorities, creative, public and charitable organizations, artists and book publishers, including Ranok publishing house, initiated the appearance of another holiday in the calendar: January 30 — Children's Book Day in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Book Institute invites applications for participation in the Vilnius Book Fair, which will be held on February 23-26.

Application deadline: January 16, 2023 (inclusive).

According to the size of the stand and its construction, no more than 90 titles of books by Ukrainian publishers can be presented on it. That is why the Ukrainian Book Institute will select publishing houses that will be able to participate. Therefore, we ask you to provide lists of books that you will offer for presentation at the book fair. We also draw your attention to the fact that the program of events has been formed and approved by the organizers of the fair.

Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin (Poland), Mr. Artem Valakh, addressed us with a very traditional for the present time request to provide charitable assistance in the form of national literature, but not for ordinary consumers — for Ukrainian citizens who are serving sentences for various offenses and crimes in prisons in Poland, in particular within the Lublin Voivodeship.

The year 2022, a terrible, painful year, ten months of which we are in a state of war unleashed by Putin's Russia, is coming to an end.

The hostilities and destructive shelling by the aggressor on the territory of Ukraine, its industrial and energy facilities caused huge losses to the national economy in general and the publishing industry in particular. And although after three or four shocking weeks of war, the participants of the book market, like the whole of Ukraine, having previously assessed the losses, searched for personnel who were scattered not only throughout the territory of Ukraine, but also throughout the world, the available organizational, material and financial resources, began little by little to restore the work of publishing houses, bookstores and printers, but realized that the damage caused by the war is very, very significant.
